Mac Lipstick Dupes: Modesty and Rebel + Swatches

Hello everyone,

I have an interesting post for you today that may just save you some pennies. I will be compare two very popular Mac lipsticks with two very similar Barry M  lipsticks. Barry M are more commonly known for their great nail polishes or glitter pigments, however surprisingly their lipsticks will give you a run for your money.

First up I will be comparing the ever loved Modesty lipstick by Mac this is a great nude colour perfect for everyday in the office or even rocking it with a sexy smokey for a night on the town. It is a cremesheen formulation meaning that its super moisturising but still have great pigmentation. We then have the Barry M lipstick in shade #150, this again is the perfect nude for night and day wear. In comparison to Mac modesty the colour is almost identical as shown in the swatch at the end of this post, however the formulation of the Barry M lipstick in less creamy and therefore lasts a few hours longer. So its really your call ladies!!!

Next up we have the infamous Mac rebel lipstick. This lipstick is deemed to be the perfect autumnal shade as it has the perfect mix of berry and pink to bring out your vampy yet girl side. This is a satin finish from Mac and it almost acts like a lip stain without the drying effect they tend have on your lips especially in these cold months. I love satin finishes as they last so long, I literally don't have to reapply my lipstick all day. An amazing dupe for this Amazing shade is Barry M Shade #156. This shade looks exactly the same in the stick, however when swatched it comes up a bit lighter, however do not despair the lipstick can be layered up to almost perfect match to Mac Rebel and that's for a third of the price. The lasting power of the Barry M lipstick is great, lasts between 4-5 hours before reapplication is needed.

Left to right: Barry M #150, Mac Modesty, Barry M #156, Mac Rebel.

The Mac lipsticks retail for £15 each whereas the Barry M lipsticks retails for £4.49. You could save over £10!!! If like me though you just have to have the Mac lipstick to add to your collection, maybe try out the Barry M one first to make sure the shade is right for you. Because I know there is nothing worse than parting with your hard earned money for something you will never use. So there you have it ladies two beautiful dupes for Mac Modesty and Rebel, and in my opinion the Barry M lipsticks are great and a bloody bargain. If you keep a look out Boots often have 3 for 2 offers on, and you could save even more. These are definitely two of my favourite lipstick shades to wear, what are your favourite shades? Let me know in the comment below.

Thanks you reading guys!!!

7 Deadly Sins Tag

Hello ladies,

Hope you are all well, and as promised I have another post for you guys. I thought I would do the 7 deadly sins tag as it is one of fave tags to read!

Greed
What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most inexpensive item would be my Natural Collection blush in rosey glow it cost around £1.50 from boots and its such a lovely everyday blush. I mainly wear this to work so I don't look over done and it blends beautifully.
My most expensive item of make up my Dior amber diamond highlighter, although this originally retailed for £32 I has now unfortunately been discontinued so I had to search high and low for mine and I ended up ordering mine from america so with delivery and customs charge I paid a whopping £52!!! However I just needed this in my life, its simple and elegant. Gives me that Kimmy K highlight effect. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Wrath
Beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
I have a huge love/hate relationship with blush, I mean I love blush, I love the colours and I hope to build a huge collection. I just have such a fuss about applying it and where to apply it. I used to always smile and apply to my apples but soon realised that this just drags my cheeks down and make me look puffy. I have definitely got better at application but its sort of a love/hate thing going on and I think there always will be.
The hardest product to get is the Dior amber diamond as mentioned above it took me at least 3 months to track that baby down!

Gluttony
What are your most delicious beauty products?
Hmmm my most delicious beauty product, does that include moisturiser? If so the Soap & Glory sugar crush body butter is BOMB DOT COM!!! It smells amazing it has a sweet brown sugar smell with a hint of lemon and if I could I would eat the whole tub with a spoon. Its so delicious in smell and texture, its so thick and creamy like a luxury greek yoghurt. I love it!

Sloth
What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
I'm so lazy when it comes to lipstick! I own so many, I have 11 mac lipsticks alone but I still reach for lip balm more often. I love lipsticks and deep vampy colours I'm just too lazy to prep, line, apply and then reapply then throughout the day.

Pride
What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
I'd have to say mascara, if I'm not wearing any mascara I feel like I look half asleep. It opens and widens my eye making me look and feel much more approachable.

Lust
What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
This seems random for a beauty tag but hey-ho. I find nothing more attractive than a guy who can make me laugh and I mean really make me laugh til I'm falling on the floor. My husband has the most amazing sense of humour and he's always making me giggle, 4 years down the line and I'm still completely head of heels for him. I put it down to his ablity to make me laugh.

Envy
What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
I would love to receive something luxurious, I have been lusting after the Marc Jacobs daisy perfume but I just can't justify paying that much money on a perfume.

And there we are, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this! I TAG everyone, Please leave a link below if you have done this tag so I can read it too.

First Impression: Nars Orgasm & Sin Blush + Swatches

Hello everyone!

So I finally got my hands on some Nars blushes! After about 3 hours of looking as swatches online I decided to go with the infamous Orgasm and Sin.

Orgasm: is a pretty coral/pink blush with gold shimmer running through it, it is said that this shade suits all skin tones. I definitely think this is true because it just looks flattering on all different skin tones, I love how it adds definition to my cheek. It just adds a very healthy glow to my face, my friend even thought I had a facial done. Haha! RESULT!

Sin: is lovely berry shade with gold shimmer running through it. I think this one is a little harder to wear and it will look better as the months get colder and lipstick becomes darker. I cannot wait to wear this with a simple eye and Rebel lipstick by Mac!

L-R Sin, Orgasm

Overall I have extremely happy with both shades I bought, Orgasm being more wearable than Sin but still I am very pleased with the quality of the products. I am hoping to expand my Nars blush collection, any recommendation?

Favourites: August

Hello my lovlies!

I am sure you have heard this a million times already BUT I cannot believe its august already! where has this year gone?! I do not know. However I can't wait because I love autumn/winter time.. hot chocolates, scarves, boots and dark lippy baby ;-)

Lets jump right into my favourites for the past month:

1. Crown brushes: Here I have the C405 Angle Contour Blush brush and the C441 Pro Blending Crease brush. I have been using these brushes to death this month. The contour brush is perfect for blush, contour or highlight and I have been using it for all three. The blending brush is incredibly soft and buffs out any harsh eyeshadow lines perfectly. I would highly recommend these brushes as they are very affordable and brilliant quality

2. Mac lipstick in patisserie: This is the perfect my lips but better lipstick, its a lustre finish so the colour pay off is only sheer. However since I have been working so much lately that's exactly what I have been wanting... and the smell!! DIVINE!!

3. Benefits hoola bronzer: Again I have been loving this, however instead of using this to contour I have been using it to give myself an all over glow. Perfect for summer time!

4. Benefits bella bamba: I am in love with Benefits boxed powders lately I own three but hoping to pick up some more. This one is a pretty pink shade with silver sheen running through it. It has been compared to Nars orgasm however I would say it is orgasms frosty sister, Its more blue toned. This has been perfect for adding a bit of life and definition to my face and because of the shimmer no need to highlight! Wooo! Also it smells great, honestly next time your near a counter smell it. LOL

5. The Body Shop vitamin E day cream: This has been a staple in my skincare since February, it was perfect during winter to keep my skin hydrated and it still keeps my skin nice and plump during summer without being too heavy. I just love all of the vitamin E range from The body Shop.

6. Ysl Touche eclat foundation: I have been loving this foundation ever since I used my points to buy it. I have done a more in depth review here

7. Garnier Eye roll on in medium: I use this product daily! It contains caffeine so it instantly wakes up the eye area up and okay coverage but I usually layer something over the top. The main thing I need this for is to reduce puffiness around my eyes and it does a great job!

So there you have it guys my August favourites. Let me know what your favourites have been for the past month.

Mac Haul + Some little extras

So I have been going a little crazy with mac lipsticks lately I now own 9 and my collection is ever growing. I managed to pick up 6 lovely mac lipsticks: Impassioned, Vegas volt, Rebel, Patisserie, Angel and Girl About town. Yes I think I am becoming obsessed ladies! There are still more I want!

Next I picked up Mac prolong wear concealer in NC30 this is a repurchase and I must say I love this stuff for a full coverage I had no sleep concealer and its pretty easy to work with.

I then wanted to get a few things from Nyx...

Firstly I was on the hunt for a good contour shade as I found all the ones I had were too warm and bronze to create a natural shadow. I picked up NYX blush in taupe and although I have only used it twice now I have to say this is the best shade for contouring as it is a slighty grey brown colour. My only issue is that it is a tad bit chalky and hard to blend, I am no on the hunt for a high quality dupe for this colour.

I then picked up three lip liners from NYX which I needed as nudes do not work for me unless I pair them with a lipliner. I got Natural, Peekaboo neatural and Deep red.

Lastly I got a lovely present of my Husband which came in a lovely Chanel bag, Yes it was the Chanel D'ombre Eyeshadow! For a full review click here

If you would like to see any reviews of these products let me know in the comments :-)

Review: YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat

Well hello hello hello!!!

So a couple of week ago I took advantage of the my boots points, which had racked up to a £34 balance due to numerous trips to boots! Guilty! Haha...
Well I decided to take the plunge and spend them on this lovely YSL foundation. Firstly YSL is my favourite high-end brand I love their mascara and there ever so pretty lipsticks, however I am a huge fan for pretty packaging so this may be where 50% of my love comes from.

Anyway back to the foundation, this foundation is a light weight foundation which is aimed at adding luminosity in order to accentuate contours of the face, as opposed to masking the face with a full coverage foundation. I completely agree with YSL on this one, masking your face in full coverage with make your face look flat and bigger. The main selling point of this foundation is that it has liquid gold running through it, and I must say that's what pulled me in. I mean who would want to apply liquid gold to their face everyday?

The coverage of this foundation is light to medium coverage but it covers all redness but still lets natural skin showing through such as freckles, I fricking LOVE this as it just looks so natural but flawless at the same time. It gives a lovely dewy finish (that will be the liquid gold at work!). The only problem with this foundation is the lasting power isn't the best as it is a very running foundation. However I find it can last me the entire work day of 8 hours if I use a primer and setting spray, although I don't think I will need these steps as the weather gets colder.

I apply this with of course my Real Techniques buffing brush and it is slowly taking over my love for my Mac F&B foundation.

Pros:
Pretty luxurious packaging
Lovely natural yet flawless finish
Nice and hydrating
Perfect amount of coverage

Cons:
Not full coverage which I love but if your after full coverage this isn't for you
May not be forgiving on those with oilier skin
On the pricey side

Overall I am in LOVE with this foundation and would recommend it to any who had normal to dry skin. YSL are not shy on giving out samples so pop to your nearest counter and check it out. If you would like to see a picture of me wearing it check out my FOTD.

Hi ladies! I have an exciting post today :)

The lovely Georgina from hiiiitsgeorgina nominated me for the Liebster award. If you don't know already the Liebster award is for bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Its all about building a community and discovering new blogs!

Review: Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Ebloui

Hello my lovely ladies!

Today I have a review for you on the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Ebloui!

This was a lovely gift from my husband and my very first piece of Chanel make-up which is exciting! As you can see the packaging is beautiful very elegant and chic, it would look lovely displayed on a dressing table. The colour of this is like no other I have seen, its a brown/deep red colour however its the perfect balance of the two to really make your eyes POP! The shimmer running through this is pretty heavy so if sparkle isn't your thing then this may not be for you. The formula of this product is great, its like a pressed pigment mixed with a cream eyeshadow. The feel when applying this is very spongy and light but the pigmentation is still very strong!

This is a perfect for a one stop smokey eye!

This product is very luxurious and definitely not for those on a budget at a price of £24. However it a great product and perfect for a gift or even a little treat for yourself if you have the money.

If you are wanting to play around with cream eyeshadows but are on a budget I suggest trying out the Maybelline colour tattoos out.

If you would like to see this in action comment below and I will post a picture of my one stop smokey eye!!

Favourites: July

Hello my fellow beauty obsessed friends,

Today's post is my July favourites, I'm sure you will have come across posts like this before but in case you haven't I will be telling you about all the products I have loved this month and why I have been loving them.

1. First up we have Garnier Body Ultimate Beauty Oil: This oil is great as it has a spray so you can just spritz it all over your body as soon as you jump out of the shower. Its great at locking in moisture and giving the skin a nice healthy glow which is what when the weather is as a gorgeous as it has been these last few weeks.

2. The body shop body mist in Mango: This is a lovely summer sent that easy and light to wear and I got this for half price early on in the month. BARGAIN!

3. Mac MSF natural in Medium dark: This is not for those with oily skin it will no nothing for keeping oiliness at bay. However I have dry skin mainly but  can get a little sweaty during the hotter months. I find this is theonly powder that does not cake up on me  no matter how much I apply I can get over how much I love this stuff. Its smooths our skin and locks foundation in so that you have a flawless yet natural complexion. HOLY GRAIL product for sure!!!

4. YSL False lash effect mascara: Again another HOLY GRAIL product this just does everything for my lashes that I could possibly want lengthens, thickens, the works!!! My eyelashes just love this stuff.

5. Benefit Hoola Bronzer: I have always had trouble finding the right shade to contour with. I used to use sleek contour kit but found that it was just making me look muddy as the colour was too warm. This hoola bronzer is perfect because its cool toned and looks like a perfect shadow shade for contouring.

6. Benefit Dallas blush: This is yet again another HOLY GRAIL product its the perfect colour and it is the only blush that I can use without contouring so its great for those days where I don't have much time. Its a pinkish brown colour that has a slight shimmer however the shimmer is hardly noticeable.

7. 17 Instant Glow in gold bronze: This is an amazing dupe for Bobbi Browns shimmer brick or Diors Amber diamond. It gives a perfect sunkissed glow definitely a firm favourite for summer.

8. Urban decay All Nighter spray:  This is a must have if your a sweaty betty like me! This has been amazing for summer party's  I will spray this all over my face before a BBQ or night out and my make-up will stay put and slip and slide everywhere. MUST HAVE ladies!!!

And that's it for my July favourites  I know a lot of them are holy grail product but that is because this is my first favourites posts so I had to include my firm favourites.

If you have any questions or want more detail regarding these product leave and comment below as I always try and reply to everyone.

Wishlist: July

Hello everyone :-)

So my wish list has been building for some time now...

1. Sigma F80 Flat-top Kabuki Brush: I have wanted this brush for a while now but I can't seem to find this brush in the UK for a reasonable price but my trusty buffing brush from Real Techniques will do for now.

2. Mac Lipstick in Angel: As I'm sure you already know this is Kimmy K's fave nude lipstick and I love her style so I just can't resist will be purchasing this on pay day.

3. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation: Although I love my Mac F&B foundation I am always on the hunt for a new holy grail foundation and I have heard numerous rave reviews about this one. Plus I love a sheer and dewy finish- win win!

4. The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter: Now this actually hasn't reached stores yet but I spoke to a lovely lady in the body shop and she said that it is said to hit stores in August. I am a HUGE fan of body shop skincare, I think its the right quality for the right price :) and this cleansing butter will definitely be added to my collection once I can get my hands on it.

5. Nars Blush in Sin: I have always wanted to try a Nars blush and I find that bright pink colours don't suit my NC40 skin tone so I go for dark more unconventional colours hence why I would love to try this purple toned blush.

6. Mac MSF in Rio: This is part of the limited edition range and thought it would be perfect for summer!

7. Zara Studded Messenger bag: This bag is just stunning! and as I need a smaller bag for summer this is perfect hopefully I will be getting my hands on this.

What's on your wish list ladies?

Mac face and body foundation: Review

Hello ladies :)

I do apologize for my absence recently with finishing off the uni year and what not I have not had time to blog lately.. However I am back and hoping to get into the swing of blogging on a regular basis :)

So today for you I have a review of Mac face and body foundation, I have been using this for a good 4 months now and I have to say this is my HOLY GRAIL foundation!!! However before I ramble on about how much I love the stuff lets talk details...

Mac Face and Body foundation is a sheer/light coverage foundation however it can be built up to a medium coverage. There is a trick to getting the best coverage from this foundation, the more you work the foundation into your skin the more coverage you get. I tend to pour some on to my hand and mix it until the texture becomes more waxy then I dot it around my face and blend it in with my Real Techniques buffing brush, it evens out my skin tone and get ride of redness however my beauty spots still show through making my make up look very natural.

This foundation is a water based foundation which therefore means its water resistant which I think is BRILL however it is extremely runny so be careful you don't drop it on yourself. It can be used on the face or body to cover up any imperfections and it has been said that this is a make up artist must have. The finish of this foundation is very glowy and radiant as though you are lit from within, its also a very natural finish on me. However because it is water based and gives a dewy finish it may not be suited to those with oily skin as it may just slide off. However I have normal to dry skin and I found the staying power to be up to 8 hours without powdering which for a dewy foundation I think is pretty darn good.

I personally think this foundation is amazing I have not experienced any breakouts or reactions but do ask for a sample in case your skin does react badly to this foundation. I was matched to the shade C3 but because its such a sheer coverage I could of easily got away with buying C4. I bought the 120ml bottle for £26 which I think is a bloody bargain when compared to other mac foundations which cost the same for a standard 30ml size. I am no way near to even half way through my bottle yet even after 4 months, so I think that this foundation is one of my best beauty investments to date :)

I would definitely recommend this foundation to anyone with normal to dry skin who is looking for a sheer/natural coverage, especially in this lovely weather you want something nice and light. However the only downside to this foundation for me is the look of the bottle, I really expected more from mac I wanted something I could proudly display on my vanity. Although this is easily overlooked as the product itself is amazing!!!

Pros:

  • Light but buildable coverage
  • Dewy natural finish
  • Great value for money
  • Smell refreshing and soothing
  • Can be used on the body to cover up things such as razor spots etc
Cons

  • May not work for oily skin types
  • Sticky after application
  • A lot of blending need
  • The look of the bottle isn't very conventional with other high end foundations

If you have tried this foundation what are your thoughts?
What is your holy grail foundation?

Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection Limited Edition

Well Hello Ladies,

This is just a quick post on my first impression on these limited edition brushes by real techniques. These brushes have duo fibres in them, 'to create a light yet build-able coverage'. They are available in selected boots stores across the UK for £23.99 but I was way to inpatient and ordered mine off IHerb for £16.49 including P&P, which I think is great! They was also delivered within 4 days, so if like me you cant wait I would definitely recommend ordering off iherb.com. At first touch I can say they are all very soft and fluffy, and in my opinion are more for everyday light coverage which is great for me as I was on the hunt for everyday brushes.

Three brushes come in the duo fibre collection, the first being the duo fibre face brush this can be used for a light dusting of face powders, or a natural flush of blush on the cheeks. This is a nice switch up from the larger powder brush real techniques which is rather dense and packs on a lot of powder. The duo fibre contour brush is very similar to the contour brush in the Core collection however the fact that is duo fibre allows for easier blending, this is my go to contour brush for everyday looks when I want a heavier contour I lean more to the contour brush from the core collection. The last brush is the duo fibre eye brush, and this is perfect for blending which seems to have been missing before from the real technique eye brush collection before but alas it is here!!!

I have only used these brushes a couple of times so I haven't fully put them to the test yet, but when I have used them more I will post a full review on them, although I think its safe to say it will be a positive one as I am loving them!!!

Have you tried these new brushes? let me know what you think :)

Drugstore/Superdrug Haul ft Bourjois cream blush ♥

Hello Ladies!!!

Well well well...

So today I did some damage in Superdrug, if your not from the UK Superdrug is basically a British drugstore. They had a lovely 3 for 2 offer on and I just had to take advantage of it, so I picked up a few things I had seen on the blogosphere.

As you can see I went a bit lipstick mad, but I just love Sleek lipsticks!! Earlier this year they brought out some new colours and I wanted to try them out. Sleek tend to have some pretty funky colours and for £4.99 its a good way to experiment with more exciting colours before indulging in the likes of Mac or YSL.

I thought I'd get some things from Bourjois, I never used to pay that much attention to Bourjois but after hearing rave reviews about their products I started to try some things and I must say they are slowly becoming my favourite drugstore brand. I got the Delice de poudre bronzing powder to contour with. I usually use my Sleek contour kit but I find that its a little too dark for everyday contouring so I got the lightest shade in 51. I also picked up the Queen Attitude Khol Kajal as I actually don't own a black khol eyeliner.

Next I picked up the highlighting pen from collections as I have heard essiebutton talk about this and wanted to give it a go as I have never tried a highlighting pen before. I love my Maybelline  colour tattoos, I think they are amazing as either an eye shadow base or on their own and they are the easiest thing to apply in the world! I also picked up one of the new Barry M sequin effect nail polishes in snp1, it reminds me of ice cream and summer I will be applying this to nails tonight. Lastly I picked up one of the new Bourjois cream blushes, I got the shade sweet cherry 04 it is said to give healthy glow and enhance all complexions. I will be putting this claim to the test in the next week or so, if you would like a full review on these cream blushes let me know.

Hope you liked my little haul post : )
